Where to get married in Banff, Calgary

You’re newly engaged and embarking on the wonderful world of wedding planning. One of the first steps for a newly engaged couple is to decide where to get married. Many couples immediately think of Banff and Calgary when they think of a wedding in the mountains.

Banff and Calgary have many wonderful places to get married, with numerous venues in the area to suit almost any couple’s style and budget. Total travel time depends on where you are coming from.

If you’re coming from far away, Calgary International Airport is your best destination for getting to Banff and to Calgary quickly.

Car rental and shuttle service are available at the airport.

Once here, there are so many great venues to choose from.

In Banff

Buffalo Mountain Lodge: is a classic mountain lodge with amazing Rocky Mountain cuisine. It’s perfect for smaller to medium weddings. The Wapiti Longhouse is a beautiful space with wood beams, stone fireplace and lovely hardwood floors.

The Rimrock Resort: with equally stunning views of both the mountains and Bow Valley is also worth a look if you are wanting more of a large ballroom-style wedding. They offer exceptional service and their food and beverage staff are amazing. They have some beautiful onsite ceremony spots and can easily accommodate small or large weddings.

The Fairmont Banff Springs: is a timeless choice, for sure. Many brides have long envisioned their fairytale wedding taking place in the Castle of the Rockies. With exceptional service and beauty, it certainly is a perfect choice for a ballroom wedding.

In Calgary

Hudson: is one of the largest and newest wedding venues. The total space is 18,000 square feet divided into the Hudson flat and the Hudson loft with capacity for 792 people seated or 1,000 for a standing reception. The menu for the reception is customized using a seasonal Hudson menu that comes with passed tables, a plated dinner option, buffet-style tables, passed plates, a plated dinner option and late night snacks.

Heritage Park (Gunn's Dairy Barn):  located in Calgary, Heritage Park has many wedding venues which include the beautiful Gunn's Dairy Barn. The Gunn's barn was initially a real barn that has been rebuilt into a medium to a large wedding venue. It's a beautiful location for hosting a wedding in Calgary.

Lougheed House:  is a historic house for a wedding, including rooms for the bride and groom to prepare for the ceremony and, if the weather cooperates, there's an opportunity to move out into the gardens. Lougheed House contains spacefor about 100 people for a plate dinner and about 120 for a dance and cocktail reception. They provide all catering services, tables, chairs and linens and will do all the set-up, clean and tear-down.
 Fort Calgary:  has some special spaces for events. The Officer's Mess, main-floor patio along with the main-floor barracks are available for a dance and dinner or a standing reception with capacity ranging from 50 up to 250 people. Fort Calgary does all of the catering for the wedding event.
